There was a time I thought my life was over.

My name is Chris Goodwin.

I was incarcerated for a crime I did not commit. I spent twelve years fighting to prove my innocence. After exhausting my court-appointed appeals, I honestly believed I would spend the rest of my life behind bars.

But I refused to give up.

I taught myself the law, kept fighting, and eventually won my freedom. I was exonerated.

I know I'm one of the fortunate ones. There are many people who never get the chance that I did. That experience changed the way I see people.

Whether someone has been wrongfully convicted or simply made mistakes in life, I don't believe a single chapter should define an entire story.

None of us wants to be judged forever by our worst day.

We all hope to be seen for who we are today — and who we're working to become.
